Mental health work and COVID-19

In the times of a global health crisis, the work of psychiatrists and psychologists becomes more urgently needed, but also more complicated. The fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic is already being felt by everyone in the mental strain we experience. How are mental health workers around the world managing? What do they notice changing in the people that they treat? What do they think awaits us?

The Volunteering and International Psychiatry Special Interest Group at the Royal College of Psychiatrists asked me to help them investigate this for the new edition of their regular Newsletter. I was privileged to talk to colleagues around the world about their practice, their fears and their patients. Find the bulletin “Mental health work in the time of COVID-19” here with the full reports of their experiences.
